Can I use this treatment instead of going to a traditional doctor?

CAM therapies, such as Reiki, meditation, herbal remedies, or acupuncture, are generally intended to complement conventional care rather than replace it. While some CAM practices can provide meaningful benefits—like reducing stress, easing chronic pain, or supporting overall well-being—they typically do not have the same level of clinical testing and regulation as traditional medical treatments (National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health [NCCIH], n.d.). Because of this, CAM should not be used instead of seeing a traditional doctor, especially for serious or life-threatening conditions.

Instead, many people find the best results come from an integrative approach, where CAM is used alongside conventional medicine under the guidance of qualified practitioners. This allows you to address your health from multiple angles—physical, emotional, and spiritual—while ensuring that important medical issues are properly diagnosed and treated by a licensed physician.

How does Reiki therapy enhance the treatments I am already receiving from my regular doctor?

Reiki therapy can enhance the treatments you are already receiving from your regular doctor by supporting your body’s natural healing processes and addressing the emotional and energetic aspects of health. Reiki is a gentle, non-invasive practice that promotes relaxation, reduces stress, and may help decrease anxiety or pain (NCCIH, 2021). These benefits can make it easier for your body to respond positively to medical treatments by lowering stress-related tension and improving overall well-being.

While Reiki does not replace conventional care, many people find it complements medical treatments by improving sleep, enhancing mood, and creating a greater sense of balance during recovery. For example, someone undergoing traditional treatment for a chronic condition might use Reiki to manage side effects, such as fatigue or stress, while still following their doctor’s medical plan. In this way, Reiki becomes part of an integrative approach, helping you feel more supported holistically while receiving necessary medical care.
